Getting Bigger

Emily is getting bigger.

She has a new word: no.  She says it in her sweet little voice.  For everything.

Me: Are you climbing on the couch? (as she is climbing)
Emily: No.
Me: Do you want to go outside? (one of her favorite things to do)
Emily: No.

She is so stinkin' cute.

Dan, who spends all day with her, says she now says num num num for bread and other things she likes a lot.

And she has started trying to say more and putting her hands together to copy the sign I showed her for more.

She's been saying shoes like mad recently, after giving it a break for a couple months.  And I heard her try socks as well, but shoes are definitely one of her favorites.  To wear AND to say.

And she is now almost 34 inches tall, so she is growing as well as learning to talk.  Which might be why she has been sleeping so much lately.  Although, she is starting to eat less, so she is getting skinnier too.

  1. Yay for more sleeping! And for growing. Sigh. Where did our babies go? Jill loves saying and wearing "shoes," too. If she finds any, she picks them up and carries them to whomever they belong to. Haha. She also tries to put her own on, but she is not that coordinated yet.

  2. Andrew loved the word "no". He used it as the answer to any question. If I asked him if he wanted to go outside he would say "no" and run to get his coat. If he was asked to bring me his shoes he would say "no" and go get them. I figured that he was learning the give and take of conversation, and recognized that "no" was an answer to a question. He just didn't understand that it was a negative response. I love talking to children and watching them learn to think and assimilate information.

  3. Jill hasn't learned "no" yet, but she has recently learned "yes" or really "yea," and I love it. My heart melts. I get so excited that she is communicating with me! And letting me know what she wants! I am sure I will not be as excited when the NOs start coming, but for right now I am LOVING the YESes.
