Since we moved into Dan's parents' house, his mom has been going through old stuff she has collected over the years. She has been passing Dan's stuff on to me, including a notebook he used in 10th grade. Here are some choice excerpts I found in the first few pages. (I talked to Dan, and he said I could post stuff from his notebook on my blog).

" . . . When I am the all powerful ruler and (benevolent) millitary dictator of the world all of that will change."

"My best attribute? . . . It is hard to find my best because I have so many and it is hard to find my worst because I have over come all of them."

"I woke up an hour early today. It was not my fault, my mother made me. This ment that I got to seminary half an hour early. That caused me to be a gentalman and help set up chairs. This increadablely streneuos work actualy woke me up enough to pay attention to the lesson with out falling asleep. This caused me to learn something in both history and math this morning. By midday this odd and rather frightining affect wore off. What a relif, it was getting extreamly odd. Actualy paying attention in class It is not an experiance I want to repeat."
These were all written for his teacher. I think if I had been his teacher I would have strangled him. Or at least secretly wished to.
I think it's appropriate that it was his Mom's fault.
