About a week and a half ago, I cut my hair. At about 5 in the morning. I decided I couldn't stand the poofy on top and limp everywhere else look. So I cut off most of my hair. I took off more than I wanted, but I think I really like how it turned out. (And Vickie did help me straighten the back of it, after Dan told me it wasn't straight, and then told me I wasn't allowed to try to fix it myself).
Dan also got a hair cut--although he went to the barber's to get his hair done. His glasses got fixed. And, his front tooth fell out.
That's right. Now I am married to a hill billy.
here he is at Meijers, helping Emily ride the pony |
So, you can't really see the tooth missing, but you can see the band-aid, from before his glasses got fixed. Yeah, that sucker lived on his glasses for about a week, subbing for a missing nose piece. Before that, he had some tape and a much smaller band-aid (if you look closely at pictures from the last month, you can see his previous band-aid/tape job), but something happened, and he wrapped a whole band-aid around his glasses and called it good. The worst part is that sometimes the end of the band-aid would stick up over the top of his glasses, like a little flag.
Vickie and I agreed that something needed to be done. We cannibalized a broken pair of glasses and replaced the lost nose piece. Dan looks much more dapper.
We are still waiting to get his tooth fixed. He's been to a dentist, and needs to see an oral surgeon before he decides how he wants his tooth replaced.
The best part of Dan losing his tooth was the comments he got from a couple of our students at church (we teach the 5 year-olds). Dan helped me write up this part:
Kid 1: So, did you know you lost a tooth?
Dan: Yes.
Kid 2: How did you lose your tooth?
Dan: I was eating a carrot.
Kid 2: A carrot (insert strange look on face)? You lost an adult tooth. You know they don't come back right? What are you going to do now?
Dan: I have to go to the dentist.
Kid 2: Oh, (insert long pause) the dentist. Did you put your tooth under your pillow?
Dan: No, I forgot to.
Kid 2: You should do that tonight. You might get money.
Dan: I got a quarter for my last tooth. It was a baby tooth though.
Kid 2: I got a dollar. You lost an adult tooth. Maybe you will get a dollar now too. You are an adult though. So maybe you won't get anything.
Conversations along this vein repeated over the next 15 minutes between the children and occasionally myself as they debated losing a tooth as an adult and the ramifications on the Tooth Fairy and the Dentist.
My glasses have been broken for over a month now. :( One leg fell off. It is not easily fixed. It's not the screw.
ReplyDeleteI love the conversation about the tooth. Dan really should put it under his pillow. ;)
And your hair looks amazing!!!
That kid's right, the Tooth Fairy owes Dan one. Adult teeth are expensive.
ReplyDeleteGo go gadget tooth fairy I say. Stick it under the pillow asap.
ReplyDeleteI'll be so careful eating carrots from now on, that's for sure.
And you both look GREAT. Love the hair, Rachel.
the tooth had come loose a few months earlier... The carrot was just the last straw.
ReplyDeleteyour hair looks sooo cute!
