Its My Birthday

Today is my birthday.  My parents are driving down from Michigan today, so I will get to see them tonight.  Yesterday was my Mom's birthday.  You may be thinking, oh, how fun!  Little girls, what a great birthday present.  What you (might not) know is that Mom went into labor with Jeanie and me 4 days earlier (read Christmas or Christmas Eve) and was put on drugs to stop labor (since we were almost 2 months early), and kept in the hospital.  So, she spent Christmas and her birthday in the hospital.  The she went into labor again, only to find out that one of her babies was turned funny, so she had to have a C-section.  Boo.  The great thing about my Mom is that I only learned this story in bits and pieces.

I will admit that I felt guilty about making Mom have a C-section when I was little.  Later I learned that Jeanie felt the same way.  We both thought we were the baby that was turned funny.  After extensive (maybe) review of the situation (given I was bigger and came out second) we've (almost) determined that I was the one turned funny.  So I guess my guilt was justified.  Mom, of course, thought we were completely nuts.

Since it was my birthday, I felt justified in spending alot of the day reading, still in my pjs.  Emily likes my book too, so she was fine with that.  She was not as fine with it when I kept moving my book out of reach.

We are both wearing purple today: I am wearing my new shirt from Old Navy, and Emily is wearing a sweat onesie from Carters, with little purple hearts all over.  It says "mommy's little angel" on the front.  We are also both wearing jeans.  So we match.  Don't I look good for a 28 year old lady?

Yesterday I went shopping with Christmas money.  I got clothes for Emily and myself, including this cute purple shirt I've had my eye on; Emily got turquoise fleece pants for Christmas, and I bought some tops to match.  This one that I wanted has the turquoise in it, so it works with her new pants.  Also, they were almost all gone, so I got her a 2T; it is a little roomy, which is good, but the sleeves are way to long.  I found out later that day, that at least they can double as mittens when hers keep on falling off while we are walking through the bitter cold, windy weather.  (I was crazy and walked to the mailbox with Emily--it is about 1/2 mile away).

Dan is going to make me a cake :)  I thought about making it while he was gone, but decided to wait and let him do it.  Since he got a cake mix just so he could make me my cake.

I finally hooked up the camera to Dan's computer.  So I have some pictures that have been waiting for life.

  1. You look SOOOO good for a 28 year old! And I'm pretty sure I put my mom in the hospital recovering from a c-section after me, too... but we're so worth it!

I hope you had a GREAT birthday.

  2. You look incredibly good for any age. Seriously hott. :) I am very happy to see those pictures!! Aww don't feel guilty!! Jill was funny, too, but we ended up with forceps instead of a C-section. Oh pregnancy and delivery! So many bumps and curves along the road . . .
