This year I made some resolutions, but still haven't written them down anywhere. So here is a partial list:
1. Make all those doctors and dentist apointments I've been putting off--partially completed! I actually got this (partially) done in just a couple weeks. Dan and I have already been to the dentist once, and are going back tomorrow--for some reason they did not clean our teeth the first time we went in. And we have been to the eye doctor, although now I have to cancel an appointment I made for Dan, since the doctor at an eyeglass store was able to give Dan an exam, instead of him having to see a specialist. But those are both out of the way. And, Emily also went to the eye doctor, and has great vision--only a little far sighted, which is supposed to be normal in kids her age.
2. Actually put away the clothes I wash--working on it! so, at the beginning of the year I had loads and loads of clothes that had pilled up for I think over a month (begging the question, where did we get so many clothes, and why do we need more than a month's worth of clothes--although, I was struggling to find things to wear, not that I didn't have clothes in my drawers still, just none to wear). I decided to work on actually putting them away. I tackled the huge pile (which was not so huge as I thought, since it was on top of some boxes I had forgotten about, since they were completely covered). And then I've put away most of the laundry since then. So, its a work in progress, but definitely better than before.
3. Wash the dishes. Not so much. So . . . dishes are a major trial for Dan and me. Neither of us likes to do them, in fact we discussed dishes before we even got married, and said there were parts of dishes we disliked less--so, I was supposed to empty the dishwasher and Dan supposed to fill it (I think, although maybe it was the other way around, since I do like to stack dirty dishes). Well, that only sort of worked. And now we have no dishwasher, and there seems to always be tons of dishes. This one I am still gearing up to get done, although I did wash dishes yesterday. Just not all of them.
On a positive note, yesterday I made bread and it turned out. I credit the cooking thermometer Dan got me, which let me get the milk and butter to exactly the right temperature. That, and perhaps my experience trying to make bread in the past, and all the advice I've gotten. But the thermometer definitely helped.
Those are great resolutions! :) Whenever I discover I have that many clothes, I like to go through them and put the ones I don't think I want in a bag. Then they sit in the bag for a month or so. If I never miss them, then I give them away to my friends or Goodwill/DI.
ReplyDeleteYeah I have a bunch I am going to donate. I donate stuff, or give it to Jeanie. But lately she has been giving me stuff.
