Quiet book

Another present I made Emily her birthday was a quiet book.

Like the play kitchen, I got the idea to make one from a blog I read.  That blog listed lots of other places to check out quiet book ideas, and I pulled from a number of places, and my imagination, in putting together the book.  I'm including a list of different blogs or web pages you can check out at the end of the post.

I intended that Emily use the quiet book at church, so many of her quiet book pages have a church theme.  Of course, when we tried it out at Church last Sunday, Emily spent just as much time coloring in notebooks as looking at her quiet book.  And she chucked some of the little felt pieces at the nice lady behind us (who afterward said that she hadn't minded, and that she had enjoyed watching Emily).  But still, not the success I had hoped.  She DOES like to look at her quiet book at home.

Here's a look at the different pages:

flowers in the temple garden

counting pennies for tithing, and helping Peter catch fish

the tree of life and Lehi sleeping in a tent

shoes and matching shapes

ABCs

dressing dolly up for church

Emily's favorite pages are the tent and the dolly.  The tent she gets to zip open and closed, and inside is Lehi sleeping under a blanket that she can pull back.  She loves to change the outfits for her dolly, and she also pretends to hold her hands and dance with her.  Or she picks the whole book up and hugs her dolly.

Here are some places you can get ideas for quiet books:

  2. That is beautiful! The dress-up dolly page reminds me of a cool toy that Hallie has that keeps her busy during church. It turned out really well. Emily is lucky to have a talented mom like you.
