Dan has wanted a dog for a long time. He's told me all about the dog he had as a kid, how great he was, how he cared for him when he got old and sick, how he misses him, and wants another dog.
A while ago, I told him if he got me a house, he could have a dog. Dan reminded me of this at some point during our house buying adventure (and we are signing papers on Wednesday!), and I've been looking on craigslist, in their pet section. A few weeks ago I found a listing for a dog, and the owner claimed he was good with kids, she just couldn't give him the time he needed, and she was moving to a place that didn't accept dogs.
I wrote her back right away, and she responded later that day. I wasn't the first person to write her, but I was the first with kids. And she wanted him to go to a home with kids. We met him on Thursday, and she was going out of town for a few days the next day, so Dan offered to take him on a trial basis to see if we (and he really meant me) could handle the puppy.
We all really love our new puppy. He is a shitzu/yorkie mix, or a shorkie. He is really mellow, unless Dan has just come home, at which point he jumps into the air, straight up, so very, very happy Dan is home. He almost never barks, and he doesn't usually get on the furniture. The girl I got him from claimed he didn't shed, and that he was hypoallergenic, so hopefully she was right about that.
Did I mention he was the cutest dog ever? He is about a year and a half old, so he's past the chewing stage, but he still gets to have a long life with us.
Jackson is the cutest ever.
ReplyDeleteCutest dog ever, seriously. He is exactly the kind of dog I would choose if I could ever get a dog.
