5 things + 5 things

It has been some time since I blogged last.  I started working in April, and most of my activities have had to take a back seat since; I'm slowly adding things back in.  Well, that, and I spent a couple weeks working on digital photo albums.  Now, the next time I get a really good coupon, I can order one of them.

William has turned one, and Emily is 4 and a half; here are 5 funs things about each of them:

WILLIAM

 1. He is starting to walk.  Most of the time he looks like a drunken sailor.  The rest of the time he falls over.

2. He loves to play with his sister.  If she is around, he is bound to be happily entertained.  He also loves to try to play with her toys, the way she does.

3. He likes to bring things to us.  Like his sister's dolls.  Or cups full of juice.

4. He is trying to learn how to talk.  He says "up" sometimes.  He says something that sounds alot like "doll", which I think he uses for "thing" but it might just be part of his babbling.  He tries out lots of different sounds.  When he is hungry or thirsty, he makes demanding noises.  Loudly.

5. He's always been an easy going baby; curious, but easy going.  He now grabs our fingers, and tries to pull us so he can go on a walk.  Sometimes he is not even standing, but he wants to get down and walk.  He really likes to walk around the house.  It is so surprising, because he usually isn't demanding about where he is.

EMILY

1. She still loves to dress up, wear pretty shoes, and carry purses.  She also loves to play dolls, and is still making beds for them.

2. Invariable, no matter how much we protest, all of her toys become female.  Even Grover.  And Eeyore.  And Mario.  Today we had a tea party with Princess Phineas and Princess Ferb.

3. She loves to pretend to write.  I gave her a little notebook, and wrote down things she dictated to me in it, including a very long story about a princess puppy and a dragon.  She also covered pages and pages with her pretend writing.

4. She is learning to read and write.  She can recognize her own name, and she read "baby" all on her own.  She can write her name; she gets some of the letters on her own, and can make her variation of them if prompted.  Her "E" had extra lines, and her "y" looks more like a "T", but she does it all on her own!  She is a smart little girl.

5. We have been reading "Winnie-The-Pooh" together; we already finished the first book, and are on the second.  She listens really well, and laughs when it is funny.  It has been really fun to read these books with her, since my dad read them to me and my siblings when I was little.

And I love that William wants to walk so much. Super cute.

  2. I laughed at Princesses Phineas and Ferb as well. My girls often make things that I would think of as girls, into boys. So I'm always referring to it in the feminine and they get mad at me. He's a BOY mommy, they tell me. Sorry, sorry! It's so funny the way they do that. Sounds like William is really starting to be a big boy!

  3. Thanks for sharing! I need to see Daniel some more while he is still interested in holding a finger to help him walk!! I saw Emily's enthusiasm for books while Big Grandpa was visiting, she loved to have him read to her.
