Emily started cruising along things, like couches, a couple weeks ago. It all started at church. We sat in the back, on metal folding chairs. I stood Emily up next to one part way through the meeting (she'd been standing by things for a while). She reached for the green hymnal on the chair, and I moved it out of reach. And she walked sideways, towards the hymnal. I moved it again. Again she moved toward it. We played the game across several chairs, until she started getting farther from me and closer to the family next to us. She sure loves hymnals.
It took her awhile to go for anything else, but now she walks along things all the time. And she has started to pull herself up next to things. Including the side of the bathtub. She plays with her toys for a few minutes, but if they move away or she gets bored, up pops Emily, all wet and slippery, trying to stand (not so steadily) on the slippery bathtub floor. At least she had figured out that we don't scoot on our tummies through the water. She's tried that before, and ended up screaming after plunging her face into the water. Apparently she doesn't like it when she can't breathe. Mommy doesn't like it either!
Haha. No kidding! Smart girl for not liking it when she can't breathe! I'm glad she's not scooting in the water any more. Although trying to cruise in the water is scary, too! That's so cute that she would only do it for hymnals for a while! Smart girl. Church hymns are great!!
ReplyDeleteHallie loves the hymnals too, sometimes it's the only way we get peacefully through the sacrament, we let her look at the book and she pretends to conduct... it's pretty sweet.
ReplyDeleteEmily is such a big girl!!!
