Snowmen Need Blankets

Did you know that snowmen need blankets?  At least, if you are three, they do.

You can find more evidence at Jeanie's blog, from earlier this winter.

Most of this winter has been very mild.  We've gotten snow a couple times, but it usually melts within a couple days.  We made our snowman last Friday, and today the snow is melting away.  Which is probably a record for how long the snow has been around this winter.

Emily directed the making of our snowman.  After she started the snowballs, I rolled them into the body and head of the snowman.  She found the sticks we used (the ones sticking out of the head are ears and hair; the ones at the base are legs).  She helped me march up the hill and dig for rocks, which we used for the eyes, mouth, and belly button (her idea).  And she picked the accessories for the snowman.  We had to use pretty ones.  And her new blanket definitely had to be included.

About an hour after we made the snowman, Emily came running to me and told me the snowman  had fallen down.  We went to check out the window, and sure enough, he (or I suppose she, given all the pink) had fallen backwards.  Dan pointed out that the lack of  packed snow all the way around where the layers joined probably caused this.  Plus the fact that it was about freezing, so the snow might be melting already.

The snowman was still out there this morning, despite the melting snow, lying on his blanket.  Perhaps he is dreaming of beaches.  Cold ones, obviously.

  1. ha ha, dreaming of cold beaches. Love it.

It's been a really nice winter here too. I am hoping this will lead to an unseasonably cool summer...

  2. Even with your little snow, you've still had more than us. Jill hasn't been able to make any snowmen. :(

And they definitely need blankets. Emily is so thoughtful!
